Spring Season at Black Draft Distillery!

FBCoverSpringOH2016
Things are finally on the move here at Black Draft Distillery! With new equipment and barrels rolling in, we had to build a second barn earlier than planned to house our new beauties. Because of the winter weather, we had a lot of delays:

Ending snowfall, 40″ Whew!

It was all worth it with a new production building to provide folks an even better experience visiting and seeing first-hand how whiskey is made! As we wrap up expansion projects, we are looking forward to our down-home barn opening at the end of the month. We hope you can join us!

Fall in the Shenandoah Valley

IMG_8282

Here we are in the last weeks of Fall, the harvest season over and time to brace for cold winters and embrace new memories this holiday season. For us it was a flurry of activity from parades and tastings, to opening our barn for tourism. All while behind the scenes expansion of new equipment to bring us to the next chapter of producing a new product, our Founder’s Day Bourbon to you that we are as proud of as our Moonshine.

Back Porch Summer Nights

As the sun sets on the last few weeks of summer, I enjoy the quiet moments of sippin’ sweet tea on our back porch that overlooks the barn. I hope you are taking time to take in the cooler nights and enjoy this recipe:

Back Porch Sippin’ TeaIMG_7966

  • 1-2 oz. First Harvest Moonshine
  • 2  Tbsp. of Lemon (1/2 lemon)
  • 16 oz. of Sweet Tea of your choice (Arizona Sweet Tea is recommended)

Fill half glass with ice; add moonshine, lemon, tea and stir. Garnish with peach wedge and sprig of basil (optional).

This recipe works with blackberries too!

Shine On!

Harvest Time

Black Draft Distillery is proud to announce our family partnership with Lyle. C. Tabb & Sons (a farm producing antibiotic/hormone-free beef, grain crops, hay, and recycling/composting in Kearneysville, West Virginia) to be our local supplier of non-GMO (non genetically modified organism) corn for our First Harvest Moonshine and our soon-to-be-released Bourbon Whiskey.

When Glen and I first envisioned our mission for this distillery, we committed ourselves to seeking out the finest of local sources for our spirits. It is a dream come true to complete this mission with a farm located less than 10 miles from our distillery. In addition, a farm that provides much sought-after non-GMO corn, adding even more distinction to our spirits.

Lyle and his son, the fifth generation of the Tabb family, let us tag along during one of their harvesting days:
