Family Policy & Guest Safety

At Black Draft Family Farm & Distillery, family is at the heart of everything we do. As a family-owned farm spanning three generations, we’re proud to welcome guests of all ages during family hours and provide a place where friends and family can gather, relax, and make memories together.

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask that all children remain under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian at all times while visiting the farm.

Family Hours in Barn #1 and Main Patio

All ages are welcome during our designated family hours:

Wednesday through Saturday: 11am – 6:00pm
Sunday: Noon – 6:00pm

Outside of family hours, guests must be 16 years of age or older to be on the premises.

Please be aware we do not have changing tables, highchairs or playgrounds.

West Virginia Alcohol Regulations

As a licensed distillery regulated by the State of West Virginia, we are required to comply with all applicable alcohol establishment laws, including WV ABC Code ยง11-16-18, which states that individuals under 18 years of age may only be present when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A Working Farm Environment

Black Draft is more than a distillery – it’s an active working farm. The property includes production areas, farm equipment, glass products, uneven terrain, construction elements, and other operational hazards that require careful attention.

For these reasons:

  • Children must remain within sight and under the direct supervision of the adult(s) who brought them.
  • Children may not roam the property or play unsupervised.
  • Parents and guardians are solely responsible for the safety, behavior, and actions of the children in their care.
  • Guests must follow any directions provided by Black Draft staff regarding safety concerns or restricted areas.

Our team is always happy to help guide young visitors when needed. However, repeated unsafe behavior or failure to supervise children appropriately may result in the family being asked to leave for the remainder of the day.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, welcoming, and relaxing environment for all guests. Thank you for being part of the Black Draft family – we look forward to seeing you on the farm.
