Here at the farm our Punkin’ (as we call our Emma) was anxiously awaiting for today and the big announcement—today is the first day of Autumn! Year after year I can remember marking the day on my little calendar, my favorite season of the year. The season of fall foliage here in the Shenandoah Valley, fresh cider, bonfires and hayrides. The skies become bluer and the smells of cinnamon, pumpkin and ginger linger in the air everywhere. There is nothing I can compare to growing up here in Autumn .
This season we are harvesting all the growth and wisdom we have gleaned in these first few years. The new equipment is settled in and producing amazing amounts of bourbon and moonshine. The original barn is transforming into a warm and cozy tasting area, with a new mercantile room and rackhouse for barrel aging our bourbon. The back deck is awaiting beautiful sunsets and sipping of Apple Harvest Cider Sangria. Recipe can be found here.
